The transcript from a legal proceeding is instrumental to the overall outcome of an attorney’s case. Court reporters sit in on a trial or depositions to record precisely what was said, how it was said, and why it was said for the attorney’s later reviewal. They are a service attorneys often don’t know how much they need until they don’t have it.
This is the key difference between transcription and court reporting services. Court reporters are present right as the legal proceedings take place. If an attorney recorded the audio/video of their legal proceeding and decides they want a transcript after the fact, this is where a transcription service comes in.
